Aged care cleaning (also known as domestic assistance) helps older Australians stay safe, independent and comfortable at home by providing help with everyday household tasks such as cleaning, vacuuming, laundry, washing dishes and other chores. It focuses on helping clients maintain a liveable and safe home environment.
Aged care cleaning is designed specifically to support older Australians’ health, wellbeing and independence. It often connects with aged care funding (e.g., Support at Home) and may include flexibility to suit health or mobility needs, such as regular support, gentle scheduling and attention to safety or fall–risk areas, rather than a standard commercial clean.
Older Australians who have had an aged care assessment through My Aged Care and are approved for services in the Support at Home program can receive domestic assistance funding if it has been identified as a need in their support plan. This includes helping people remain living independently in their own home.
Yes! Family, carers or representatives can help organise services. You can work with your aged care provider to arrange a cleaner, decide the support needed and make sure services align with the client’s care plan.
Most aged-care cleaning services at home are funded through the Support at Home program, which replaced the Home Care Packages system in November 2025. Eligible clients receive a personalised support plan that may include funding for domestic assistance.
Your aged care funding will contribute to the costs. Depending on your income and assets, and what your approved support plan covers, you may be asked to contribute to some costs. Support at Home participants are typically required to contribute based on their circumstances.
If you’re not eligible for aged care funding, you can still access domestic support by paying privately through a service provider such as Absolute Domestics, with payment made on the day of the service. You can then let us know if your funding is approved at a later date.
We provide regular cleaning services only, such as weekly or fortnightly cleans, delivered in line with your aged care support plan and individual needs.

Yes. Many clients choose to be present during cleaning, especially if mobility issues or personal preferences are involved.
Yes. Clients are required to provide their own cleaning products and equipment. This helps ensure familiar and preferred products are used in the home and supports proper hygiene by using equipment dedicated to your household.
You can request a change of cleaner if you feel the service isn’t meeting your needs. We will work with you to find someone who matches your preferences and care requirements.
An aged care assessment through My Aged Care determines eligibility. Most people over 65 (50+ for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people) who need help with everyday tasks may be assessed for domestic assistance.
